The Federal Investor Immigration Program Canada

Citizenship and Immigration Canada created the Investor Immigration Program to promote economic development and employment in Canada by attracting people with a certain net worth, business experience, and strong management skills.

On June 19, 2014, applications that remained in the backlog of the Investor Immigration Program and the Entrepreneur Program were canceled. If you are unsure whether your application is affected by this change, please do not hesitate to contact us.

As an investing immigrant, you and your immediate family can obtain permanent Canadian residency by investing $ 800,000 CDN for 5 years in the Canadian government. Applicants may reside anywhere in Canada except in the province of Quebec. The investment is guaranteed by the government, ensuring that the investment of $ 800,000 CDN will be repaid in full at the end of the five years. You do not receive any interest on your investment.

The table below summarizes the eligibility criteria for the Investor (Federal) program.

You have two options to make your investment in the government:

  • Invest C $ 800,000 of your own funds:

In order to make the required investment, you can choose to make a government guaranteed investment of CDN $ 800,000 with your own funds from the Government of Canada. These funds are retained by the government for a period of 5 years, after which they are returned to you in their entirety, without interest;

  • Paying a Financing Fee:

Instead of depositing $ 800,000 CDN, you may choose to pay a one-time financing fee through a government-approved financial institution. These fees will not be returned and the institution will invest $ 800,000 CDN for you.
