The city of Saskatoon, with its 220,000 inhabitants, is located on the South Saskatchewan River and is the most populated city in the Saskatchewan region before the provincial capital.
With 260,600 inhabitants, the Saskatoon metropolitan area is the fifth largest metropolitan area in the three provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Saskatoon benefits economically from the production of potash and oil. But agriculture and services are also important.
In Saskatoon, there are several museums on the history of the province and the city.
